UN Security Council
Committee Information
Committee type: Single Delegation
The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs of the UN. While it was one of the first councils in the UN, being created when the UN was after WWII, it was at a halt during the Cold War. Despite this, it still was able to meet and declare interventions for many conflicts, and kept it’s power throughout all of it. Made up of fifteen members, five of which are permanent, the Security Council has been, is, and will always be integral to the United Nations, and our world as a whole.
The topics we have chosen for QMUN’s security council are:
A: The Implementation of International Immigration Laws
B: International Recognition of Taiwan as an Independent State
These topics are prominent issues in the current day, and we look forward to seeing the solutions and debate you have regarding them. We hope you will enjoy participating in this committee as much as we have enjoyed setting it up.
Robin Stratton
Hello Delagates!
My name is Robin Stratton, and I will be chairing for the Security Council at our Model UN. I also have the honor of being your Deputy Secretary General.
I started Model UN in sixth grade, starting out with a small grade-wide committee in the classroom, to now chairing for an official school model UN. This has been a very valuable journey for me, and I hope this MUN can also add valuable experiences to your own journeys as well.
I look forward to seeing you all in council or our ceremonies!
Best,
Robin Stratton | Deputy Secretary General, Committee Chair, Security Council
